Holiday with your dog in the Hessisches Bergland

Bodi, heerlijk in de zon tussen het gras. We consider our holiday house as being very dog friendly.
Our consideration is not only due to the environment of our holiday house, but also due to our
policy on dogs on holiday. For instance, we donot support the policy which limits only one
dog to be acceptable. Our policy is that the amount of dogs is limited by the fact that they Ik ben dus Joep, de beagle van Am Sternberg 32.
may not cause any inconvenience in both our holiday
house as in the park.

Next to this we donot charge you extra costs for the dog
you are bringing along. We do have a Beagle ourselves,
who has quite often his friends Max en Bodi staying at
us, and are fully aware how it feels as being dog owner,
limited by all kind of rules and charges if want you want
to bring your dog along on your holiday.

Because there are ofcourse also many people in the
holiday park without dogs, it is appreciated if on the park
itself, you keep your dog on the leash. Am Sternberg 32
is located at a quiet sideway in the holiday park and has a relatively large garden with for your
dog sufficient shade. Also beside and behind the house there is some space.

As said, we consider the surroundings of our holiday
maisonnette in all four seasons ideal for a holiday with
your dog. In spring, summer and autumn a large mixture
of routes in and around the National park can be walked.
The same routes can also be done in the winter of
course, but then it is all nevertheless harder to do so.

On average the surroundings of Frankenau have between
60 and the 90 days snow each year. Then also the fields
beside the holiday park and the National park entirely
empty and covered under snow.

Het nationalpark Kellerwald Edersee. Depending on of the
type dog that you have
it is judicious to take
the natural inhabitants of the forest into account, and then particularly of course in spring. Savage
swines can for example be considerable aggressive if one comes in their
opinion too close to their young. During the daytime such a event is not
very likely, as the swines have then withdrawn themselves in the bunches.
Particularly around the early morning they can become closer to the park.

Please keep in mind that there are some rules and laws in Germany, like:

  • Obligatory vaccination.
  • The transport of dogs by car.
  • The maximum number of dogs which you are allowed to bring along.
  • Muzzle for some type of dogs.

Underneath you can find a part of the information:

  • Obligatory vaccination.
Vaccination against rabies is obligatory. For this a Eu-passport is sufficient. This
is priovided to you by the veterinary surgeon and must meet following conditions:
  • It must be able to idenfy the animal by either tatoea or microchip.
  • This id-number must be mentioned in the Eu-passport.
  • The Eu-paspoort mentioned a valid vaccination against rabiės.
  • Vaccination is at least 21 days old and at the most 12 months old.

  • Maximum number of dogs allowed.
For taking along house animals (maximum 3 dogs and/or house cats) no license
is required. You must be, however, be in the possession of a proof of vaccination
against rabies. For the import of other house animals a special license is required.
Information about this is supplied by German consulates and German animal
    medicine agencies.

    Transport of dogs by car.
Transport your dog in such a way that it doesnot become living projectile and
wounds itself at unexpected manouvres, like suddenly hard breaking. The dog
cannot be transported in the front seat. It should, however, be on the back seat,
provided you use a special safetybelt. Transportation in the boot is possible by
    using a special barrier.

    Muzzle.
Pitbull, Staffordshire terriėr, Staffordshire bullterriėr and Bullterriėr can
be introduced in Germany, provided that you donot stay any longer four weeks
in Germany. These dogs always should carry a muzzle.
